Getting a place

Tap Vote on a session you want to play. Voting opens 2 days before and closes 1 hours before it starts. When voting closes, places are given out automatically in this order:

  1. Preferred day. If the session's day is one of your days for that month, you go first.
  2. Membership. Bigger memberships come next (16 sessions, then 12, 8, 4, then ad-hoc).
  3. Who voted first, to the millisecond.
Example: Sam (Friday is a preferred day, 8 sessions) beats Alex (no preferred day, 16 sessions), because preferred day counts first. Two people with the same day and membership are ordered by who voted first.

Structured sessions (balanced teams and tournaments) only fill places in groups of 4 so every court has a full doubles game. Regulars can vote up to 24 hours early.

Waiting lists

If a session is full you go on the waiting list, and you can always see your exact position and your chance of getting in (likely, possible or unlikely, based on how many people usually drop out on that day).

When someone drops out, the person at the top moves in automatically and gets a notification straight away. You can leave the waiting list whenever you like.

Dropping out

Can't make it? Tap I can't make it on the session before its drop-out cut-off (shown under Key times on each session, usually 18:00 on the day) and your place goes to the next person.

After the cut-off you'll need to ask to drop out. A manager decides whether the session is refunded or still counts as one of your membership sessions, because late notice makes it hard to fill the place.

Memberships and paying

Memberships are bought for a calendar month on the Membership page. Buying for next month opens on the 20th. Each membership has a limited number of spots; if it's full you join its waiting list.

Pay by bank transfer from your banking app using the reference shown, then tap I've paid. Payment is due by the 1st of the month, with 7 days' grace. If it still hasn't arrived the spot may be given to someone waiting.

Each session shows its price for members and for ad-hoc players. Ad-hoc players pay the ad-hoc price for each session they play. Sessions beyond your membership's allowance cost that session's member price. Both are added to next month.

Ratings and teams

Everyone has an Elo rating that goes up when you win and down when you lose. Beating a stronger pair moves it more than beating a weaker one. Your reliability shows how settled your rating is: it reaches 100% after 20 games.

On structured nights the app makes teams so the two pairs on each court are as evenly matched as possible, and avoids putting you with the same partner again where it can.

Privacy

Your rating is private by default: only you and the managers can see it. You can choose to show it to members or everyone on My profile. Your emergency contact is only ever visible to managers.
